How To Prepare For A Water Or Juice Fast

July 07, 2019

I often get asked by people if they should do a water or juice fast.

It’s a really good question.

What I would say first of all is if you want to start a fast tomorrow, take a deep breath, slow down, and prepare for the fast. Especially if you’re going to do water.

Water Fasting

A water fast is going to be quite dangerous if somebody just heard about water fasting.

“I heard about Tyler doing fasts with people for 20 days and all kinds of chronic diseases being reversed. I’m going to do a 20-day water fast.”

And it’s like wait a second, we took 30 days with all of these people prior to the fast to prepare their bodies for it.

Number one is cleaning the digestive system out. Because if you have excess dead animal flesh, or toxicity, or processed foods that are sitting in there you could potentially become really toxic and it could be damaging.

Making sure that you clean everything out and really get a lot of quality nutrition before starting a water fast is really important.

With water fasting it is the fastest way to eliminate waste. So you’ve got to understand that very quickly you might become quite acidic. So you need to be educated on how to remove these acid wastes as that are accumulating during the fast is really important.

Juice Fasting

When it comes to juice fasting, juice fasting is very different because it does slow down the detoxification process a bit. And your body is being loaded with fresh nutrients and fibre at the same time. A lot of people think, “I’m drinking the juice. There’s no fibre.” That’s not actually true. There’s billions of little microfibres and things inside of juices that you’re drinking that can still keep the digestive moving, etc.

A lot of times people could say, “I want to do a juice fast and start tomorrow.” You could but I still recommend some digestive cleansing, otherwise, you’re going to go through probably two to three days of really feeling it.

First and foremost educate yourself about it. For most things, people experience like skin conditions, digestive stuff, energy, juice fasting is probably the way to go.

When it comes to major chronic disease like Crohn’s disease, ulcerative colitis, maybe a major skin condition, even talking about heart disease, cancer, and things of this nature, then you probably want to work with a professional who can monitor you, even a doctor or physician, somebody who specialises in clinical water fasting to make sure that you’re doing it healthily and checking your blood and all this sort of thing.

And in general if people educate themselves and clean everything out they could probably do a five to seven day, maybe even a 10-day water fast quite safely. But it’s important to really get the education, know what you’re doing before just jumping in.
